With Jake now shooting a good bow, I’m looking to add something to my archery range….a back stop! He does a great shooting but I’ve noticed that when he gets tired, his shots start flying off target. Now they don’t bury or stick in trees like my arrows do when I miss but I rather not or him go looking in the woods for his arrow. I’ve used bails of straw or hay before but it gets messy and I’m not a huge fan of foam boards for the same reason…messy. I read somewhere a while back that carpet or stall mats work great. We are heading to a local feed store now that sells them to check out the stall mats to see if they would work. They come in 2’ wide X 6’ long and ¾” thick pieces which is about all I’d need. I figured I rig it long ways behind the lower half where Jake does his shooting. So other than bails of straw or form boards, are you using as a back stop?
