For those of us that still have a tag attached, it's coming down to the wire. Anybody got any last-ditch ideas that you might try differently as you reach deep into that bag of tricks to outsmart that hold out buck? Really, I'm up for any suggestions. I've tried at daybreak, at sundown, mid-day, hunting from a treestand, hunting on the ground, still hunting, scent free, face to the wind, Smokin' Sticks, doe urine, doe in estrus, vanilla extract as a curiosity scent, ....Doesn't anybody have that silver bullet that I need? I'm pretty sure I'm onto em. I've seen lots of scrapes and tracks. I haven't even seen a deer this year. I've seen turkeys, squirrels, and even a couple of weasle. Yet weekend after weekend I find the hope, yes the hope that it will happen...Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it.

You try an RPG painted to look like corn on the cob I'm not sure what to tell ya other than time in the stand. I was out for several hours this morning in the rain so I can tell you this....that didn't work ;D If I was gun hunting I'd be hitting those small tight spots around or near pressured areas. Two things other (than a hot doe) bucks are looking for right now is cover and food. Not too close to homes even though that probably where they are hiding.

I hunted this am from dark until 10...and then this evening from 3 until WAY after dark just to see if I could hear anything. I never saw or heard a deer all day. As much as I hate deer drives...this is the weekend to try it...the last weekend of gun season. The rut is over (here anyways) so bucks are looking for food to bulk on fat before winter. They can feed tonight and lay up all day tomorrow so it might take you to get them moving. I plan on sitting in a stand tomorrow am, then getting down and still hunting through several thick nasty swamps to see if I can get on the trigger faster than they can get up and run! Sounds good in theory doesn't it? LOL. ;D We'll see. I'm sure glad I filled an archery tag!! If you come up with a fail proof late season tactic be sure to let us all know what it is!

Maybe it's just Location, Location, Location... trying a different spot tomorrow- The spot where there was a scrape about every 10 feet. Gonna try to be there early. Definitely gotta pay the due diligence with the scouting next year. Like August-ish. Find the stand location. Set the cameras....Spot out the sign on GPS...etc. (woulda, coulda, shoulda...)

Not trying to be a wise ass but hunt where the deer are. If you have spent all your time in the same general area, move some place else and give it a try. To late to scout much so be aggressive. If you have a climber go for a walk and find some fresh sign and set up on and and hunt it till you kill one or the season ends.
Good luck.
