was made aware today that a guy i work a lot with has a relative that lives in indiana and he goes there every year to hunt the rut the second week of november. he apparently has lots of private farmland to himself and the area has lots of bucks. we will see how it all pans out but by the looks of it i could be a short 13 hr drive from hunting the midwest during prime rut. i would like to be bowhunting but will have to check the seasons and dates to see if the timing works out.

Sounds like a sweet opportunity!
I've a hunting friend that lives in IL but hunts Indiana also and has taken some beautiful bucks there. What part of the state is your friends land in?

saw the guy with the hunting opportunity in Indiana and purposely didn't mention it and as I headed out he stopped and said "hey are you really good to go to Indiana?" found out a little more about the area is Rochester area and he has permission on a private 880 acre farm that the owner is the only other hunter and he just uses his nuisance doe tags. also has another large parcel that is limited to minimal or no other hunters. the farms rotate between soybeans and corn and this year is soybeans. I am thinking I will be bowhunting but may kick myself for it. this was a yearly tradition for this guy to go with his dad, but age is getting to him and last year they called it off. hopefully this will be the restart of the yearly tradtition.
