There's a fellow hunter on HuntingNet from Illinois that got drawn for either sex in C2. He was looking for some advice or tips on the C2 area. Below is his post on HuntingNet so if anyone can help, please do and I’ll pass along the information to him.
Or you could just go to HuntingNet and looking the Northeast section for Zim and comment directly to him. I’m not trying to get information for anything in return. I'm just trying to help make his moose hunt and trip to NH a good experience for him and his sub-hunter. I plan on asking someone I know that probably knows the area if he has information so maybe some can add to it.
Anybody know if there are any camping restrictions up in that country? I am used to hunting out west and making a camp wherever I want, by some water. But I know a lot of the land up in C2 is forest company leased and such. I have no idea. I looked on the NHF&G site but could not find any specifics on camping.
Also, I was wondering if there is any source for someone like me, who is not familiar with the area, to determine locations of the 2-7 year old timber cuts. I have been looking at aerials and can see some clear cuts, but no way to determine age. Thanks.

Camping I would look at the White Mtn National park to see about the restrictions.
Local Biologist or CO's would be where I would start regarding the the cuts.
To be honest given the distance I would suggest going with a guide. Scouting as we all now is the key, and this is true for moose.
To bad he is not in C1 or D1. I got a few spots that I know hold moose. C2 is not an area I am familiar with.

Hundred an sumpthin' hours of preseason scouting later, this big fellow turned up on the next to last day of the season. Ken, the fellow from Illinois mentioned above, put one shot in his neck from about 70 yards and down he went. Good luck to you folks in the 2013 draw!

I tell ya, if I drew up there I would just go ahead and hire an outfitter. Why take a chance?

I tell ya, if I drew up there I would just go ahead and hire an outfitter. Why take a chance? Your point is well taken ec. The time commitment is pretty hefty for sure. The good news is that it involves something most all of us love pretty well - gettin' out in the woods, seeing some new territory and putting in a bunch of boots on the ground time. And there were some patches of mighty pretty ground there in C-2.

THat first pic is golden! I see moose sign in cuts like that around here all the time. Found a dead one last year.
Dont get me wrong. If I drew a tag, I would LIVE in the woods until season. But I would sill hire a guide. With some people going decades without getting a tag, I would not take a chance at all.
