I just posted this on FB and was wondering how many people will take me off their friends list.
Because of the lady at Cumberland Farm gas stations an hour ago that decides to voice her opinion to me a total stranger, I plan on dedicating all the critters I'll be giving dirt naps to this fall, next year and all the years after that in her honor.
If people don't like the fact that I am a hunter, then so be it! It's my choice just like it’s someone choice to plant a garden for flowers/vegetables, play an instrument for music or paint/draw art. All those things they can get in a store but they do it themselves because it gives them a feeling of self-accomplishment, they find it satisfying and comforting…just like I find hunting. So before you preach your ways to a hunter think about it, you will not change my (our) ways. Just like we (if we were assholes & confronted you in a gas station) couldn’t get you to believe in our ways & to go hunting!
If anyone finds this offensive, oh well…take me off your friends list! I found the anti-hunter approaching me & opening her trap to me at the gas pumps in front of my boys very offensive.

My fishing rods and small tackle bag was in the bed of my truck. I opened up the passenger door to put them in for the car wash and Jakes arrows fell out on the ground. As I was picking them up she asked if I hunted deer and I said yep...I hunt deer, turkeys and whatever's in season.
Off the races she went about how can you kill poor defenseless animals…bla bla bla! My only comment to her and only because my boys were sitting right there with their windows down was, "whatever lady....go talk to someone who gives a flying shit about your mission"!
She wasted a minute of her life, a lot of freash air trying to preach to me and was very lucky my boys right there. If I was alone I would have not hesitated to tell her how I really felt.

Really sucks that she did it in front of your kids.
I had something similiar happen a few years back at a diner when my Dad, brother, and I went out for breakfast after a morning hunt.

I've always had great feed back from people in passing and in public places when with Jake and on my own. I guess she was having a bad day and the fishing rods and arrows tipped her over the edge ;D ;D

For the most part I have generally get nothing but good things said to me when out n' about in camo, but I have had some bad experiences as well.
I do not let it bother me and for the most part just ignore the haters.
I will say hunting in northern NH is like hunting in a completely different world. People really appreciate hunters and seem to understand what it is all about. I think so many people earn a living or live off the land up there that they have better understanding of why people do what we do.

I agree with you Tom. You have no reason to apologize for doing what you legally love.
I am going to say something though....I'm glad I live in America where she has the right to confront you and have a conversation about it. I would hate to live somewhere where she would be afraid to speak her mind for fear for her or her families life.
I just let it roll off my back and know that I won't change her mind any more than she will change mine. I am a hunter and proud of it!
