Well, the 2012-13 trapping season has begun. I have to work for the first few weeks, so I am keeping things small for now. I got out 15 sets yesterday before I threw out my back ;D ...yes it is kinda funny. How come nobody told me what was going to happen as I approach 40!?!?!?!?! We will see if what this morning brings as I crawl to check my sets! Sean

Well, we are off to a slow start. I am working and raising kids at the same time, so I am only managing a few traps in the a.m. All excuses aside....lol... So far I have gotten one muskrat and 1 huge beaver I snared at a castor mound! Pics to come!
After the 12th I am done with work for awhile, so I will be able to go at things a little heavier. It started to snow up here today in Hanover where I work. Can't wait till it starts to stick. I really want to catch a canine in a blind trail set this year!

Caught a mink and a raccoon today.
Thanks for the tips on blind setting canines. Much appreciated!
BTW...If you want to be on the line again, no better place than the passenger seat of my truck! You are always welcome.

Castor mound snare set... Now catch a beaver and hold it up in a manly pose. My first snared beaver! .lookin' redneck funky chic - note the perplexed facial expression! Finally, my daughter's extremely animated support for Night Owl lure products! Thx for all of the knowledge guys! Sean

Thanks mj! Today marks the end of week one trapping. I averaged one critter a day, which is about all I can handle skinning-wise with work and kids. This morning was beautiful! One of my favoriter parts of trapping is driving the 4-runner through the woods, especially in winter! It is also nice to snare beavers! Here is today's catch. Time for some skinning!

Well, today I decided to pull the line for a bit until I can get my fur put up. Not enough freezer space. Here are a few pics from today: I call this one "Everything is harder in New Hampshire" Here is the beaver I snared this morning. I forgot my beaver hauling strap, so I used the snare I caught him in and an axe handle to fashion a way to haul him back to the truck. Once I get this fur up I will start to setting again!
