Buying a hunting rifle in the stainless barrel is really not big thing for me as it is with some. I personally can either take it or leave it and so far with the guns I own and have had, I’ve pretty much gone without. We are waiting until after the holiday season to order up my Savage 220F so I still have time to decide which barrel. I’m now leaning toward the stainless but thought I’d run by here for your thoughts. I’m really taking a liking the stainless and think that I’d probably look a lot better walking out empty handed with it than the blued barrel slug gun For the record, if I could get the barrel in a matte blue like my muzzleloader…I’d be all over it Which one do you like...blued barrel or the stainless barrel?

I'd get the blued, and would bead blast it to take off the shine. I HATE the deep shine blue job. I sent my model 70 out and had the whole thing, screws and all matte teflon coated. LOVE IT!!

I totally agree Mike That's the only reason I'm thinking the stainless. I was not walking in the Jims shop looking for a new T/C. It was on the counter and he was on the phone with the customer that special ordered it in the matte barrel. When the guy decided he didn't want the gun...I bought. I wish all gun barrels came that way. So mind me asking what the bead blast cost ya? And do ya have any photos of it? The difference in the two barrel finished for this gun is just under $100. It's not that I hate the stainless, it looks pretty cool but I've already got a scope and I'm not sure if the bases I need come in silver. The gun might be looking pretty busy once I was done setting it up ;D

Never mind Mike Boy I feel like an idiot for not reading the actually gun description The 220F does come in the matte finish barrel. This is a picture of a left handed model but at least the photo shows the matte finish better than the in the camo photo. I believe this will be the combination I order. I really like the black synthetic stock with the matte finish

You have a problem there Tom. If you get that one you will be buying a black gun, which we all know is designed to kill people by the thousands. I feel that in the interest of the human race you should consider getting the exact same gun with the SS barrel so as not to worry you fellow members of the human race if they see you walking out of the woods.
