Sorry...trying to do my best monster truck commercial announcement for this post ;D
This past Sunday was my son’s Boy Scout pinewood derby race. I was our first time making a car or doing the race and man was it fun. A few things went wrong right before the race that we are not going to let happen again or come April when Jake heads to the regional race. He qualified for with his second place win in the Wolf den.
The one thing I really screwed up on was adding crazy glue to the axles in the block. Some how I glue on the one tire and it wasn’t moving Well it did but it wasn’t going to spinning like it should be. So I took a tire from my other son’s car and swapped it out. The big problem was the axle on his car wasn’t debured or polished like Jakes axles were.
The second mess up was they had two scales set up. Apparently one was the official weigh in scale and the other was not. We wanted to double check his car weight and the guy said use this scale. Next thing we know Jakes car was entered and put into the line up. When I told them we still needed to add the graphite to the inside of the tire and axle and they told us we couldn’t touch the car once it was weighted in Total bullshit because it wasn’t in the rules, posted and they never said anything to us so could we do? His car ran on just the graphite on 3 axles that we added when we put the tires on and was testing it here at the house. All they had to do was re-weight his car if they thought we were adding weight to it.
Anyways, here are a few photos and a quick video from the pinewood derby races. I’m very proud of my boy
