Well, lately I find my mind wandering, as it does this time of year. I am still fleshing beaver pelts from the freezer and day dreaming about spring fishing- all the while knowing I should be doing "real" work . ANYHOW>.. I keep thinking about bears! I am seriously considering giving baiting a serious try this year to get my first bear. I am thinking three bait stations and a whole lot of hard work. Any advice from people who know what they are doing? I would really like to do this myself, but I am also thinking about maybe hiring a guide in canada. I probably wont, I too cheap... ;D and stubborn... Sean

i think it is very easy to get them coming in but they are sneaky when hitting bait sites during daylight.

OK, here's one about taking bears not so seriously.
Good for a chuckle:
"Ralph and OldMilly went bear hunting in Maine. While Ralph stayed in the cabin, nursing his "Bacardi's, OldMilly went out looking for a bear. He soon found a huge bear, shot at it but only wounded it. The enraged bear charged toward him. His rifle jammed, so he dropped it and started running for the cabin as fast as he could.
Now OldMilly was pretty fleet of foot, but the bear was just a little faster and gained on him with every step. Just as OldMilly reached the open cabin door, he tripped and fell flat. Too close behind to stop, the bear tripped over him and went rolling into the cabin.
OldMilly then jumped up, closed the cabin door and yelled to Ralph inside, "You skin this one while I go and get another!"

first nh you are only allowed 2 baits I believe.. someone correct me if im wrong. Second please don't use chocolate. and the biggest thing is to just have fun. don't make it a have to kill situation. its a lot of fun to be iin the woods that time of year. also when a bear comes in don't shoot it first thing let it get comfy at the bait and make sure its not a sow with cubs. if you need any more info inbox me and il help the best I can
