Another crow season has come & gone but as it did last year, it has me thinking on how I can improve my hunts other than shooting better. There are a few things I found online that come fall & next spring I feel will increase my odds for more successful hunts.
The first is concealment out in the field. Crows has some incredible eye sight so having the right set up, knowing when to move for the shot are very critical in whether or not you make a good shot. Last year I was thinking & searching hard for ideas on an easy to carry, set up & good blind. Well I think I’ve found it and it doesn’t break my back getting out or break the bank it buying is…The Wright Blind at www.thewrightblind.com Here’s a link to a YouTube clip of it as well

The blind skirt is only 56” tall & will work either sitting or standing. For me, I’d need it raise off the ground at least another 12” to 15” to be covering my upper body or what I want covered when standing up. That how I hunt all the time so if I just raise it up, I’m not worried about covering my feet. I don’t move my feet to look around & hope the crows if I do move, see my boots. An easy fix if that becomes an issue would be to safety pin more blind material to the bottom.
I like the idea that I can remove the blind material it comes with & swap it out for winter camo if we have a late snow covering the fields like this year. Set this blind up, lean or add on a few pine branches & I should be set
The other cool find that should improve my odds is Krutson’s Sporting Goods at www.knutsondecoys.com They have some great crow decoys along with a few that are now on my crow hunting wish list…the Merry-Go-Round Crow set up, Flapping Crow decoy & Flying Crow decoy. Will they work? I don’t know but I do know that I plan on having fun giving them out
So between the blind, the flying crow or merry-go-round crow & a few other minor changes…I just might make this ass kicking fast action lot of shooting sport of crow thumping just a little better
